Client: Lutheran Theological Seminary (LTS)

Established in 1913, Lutheran Theological Seminary (LTS) is a prominent theological institution situated on To Fung Shan in Shatin, Hong Kong. Guided by the Lutheran tradition and an ecumenical outlook, LTS offers theological education to students of varied denominational backgrounds through a broad selection of certificate, degree, and doctoral programmes.

The Challenge

With its distinguished history and reputation, LTS wanted to improve its public communications while balancing its heritage with present-day relevance. It needed professionally crafted publications to clearly share its vision, accomplishments, and educational purpose with students, alumni, donors, and the broader community.

In 2022, LTS also commissioned a 110th Anniversary Memorial Bulletin to mark more than a century of theological education and ministry.

Our Approach

Our work with LTS encompassed the design and production of newsletters, annual reports, and commemorative publications. We aimed to portray the seminary as forward-looking while recognising its distinguished heritage and academic standing.

For the 110th Anniversary Memorial Bulletin, we paired the historical importance of the occasion with a fresh, contemporary design style. We paid close attention to typography, page structure, the presentation of archival material, and readability to deliver a publication befitting this milestone.

Although our teams worked across the United Kingdom and Hong Kong, in separate countries and time zones, we put an effective process in place for clear communication, swift revisions, and on-time delivery.

The Outcome

The final publications brought greater visual consistency to LTS’s communications and improved the way its institutional identity was presented. The 110th Anniversary Memorial Bulletin honoured an important period in the seminary’s history and showed how considered design can connect people across geographical and cultural boundaries.
